Huba-Bilow, Lola James: On August 9, 2024, Lola James Bilow-Huba, aka Lola Wigglesworth, a first-generation puggle, aged 17 years, entered into eternal life at home with her loving family surrounding her.

Lola was born on October 21, 2006 in rural Indiana. Ten weeks later, she arrived in New York’s Capital Region to begin life with her human parents, Brian and Lynda (Bilow). At the time of her passing, Lola resided in Halfmoon, New York

In 2007, Lola was socially promoted through Pet Smart’s puppy obedience school in Latham, NY. In her youth, she dressed as either a bumblebee or a turtle for Halloween. She was a classic rock fan, especially the Kinks. Her favorite foods were salmon, apple slices, and her own poop. Her favorite drinks were water out of the bowl and Bud Light from “nana’s” mug. Lola loved to burrow beneath the blankets and sleep against her mother’s stomach.

Lola spent summers on Chateaugay Lake, soaking up the sun in “papa’s” pontoon boat, or taking long hikes on the trails.

Lola helped her parents, both of whom are high school English teachers, grade essays every evening, and in July of 2016, at the age of nine, Lola was appointed “assistant mother,” when her human sister, Annalee, was born.

Lola played like a pug and howled like a beagle. Her dainty paws smelled like crackers. And anytime someone came home, she happily wiggled for all she was worth. Lola wasn’t just a dog. She was a queen.

Lola was preceded in death by her puggle siblings, Sofie and Pepper, her black lab cousin, Mooey, and her best friends, Carter, Bambino, and Emma. Lola is survived by her puggle brother, Oscar.

In lieu of Milk Bones, Lola’s family asks that donations be made in her name to the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society at https://www.mohawkhumane.org/ways-give.
